The problem with the old SB was that it was several different languages and scripts and stuff hacked into each other to get it to work, if I recall correctly Johan had to set bits up every time the server restarted because it wouldn't work automatically, for instance. Basically it was a mess, and this is entirely PHP and can run on any LAMP/WAMP webserver. Because to set the new server up to run as the old one did would be... mostly impossible.
I agree, this board doesn't feel as finished as the old one (I certainly get tired of removing spam when we get attacks) - do we have any PHP gurus out there to offer their services to Johan? Maybe even offer to write code as well? ;-)
