why
keycards
suck.

Since I live in the barracks, these @$$holes use keycards instead of real keys to gain access to rooms. If I were to lose my keycard or lock myself out of my room with the keycard inside, I have to walk half a mile to the main barracks and get a one-time card to get back in. Well, I can't keep my keycard on me since it's not the size and shape of a real key, nor will it fit on my keychain (which, by the way, I never lose or get locked away from) and so I've locked myself out of my room several times...so many, in fact, that even if the main desk were to make a one-time card, it won't work for me anyway, and they have to call the building manager to let me back in. And now the definitive proof that keycards suck:
I was about to take a shower. Since I have a roommate, I leave my room door shut while I shower, taking my bullshit keycard with me to the bathroom, and the only clothing I take with me is a clean pair of underwear and a towel. Well, I'm near-sighted, and when I grabbed my keycard and entered the bathroom, I went to place it on the toilet tank and discovered to my horror that I had actually grabbed my government ID card (which looks amazingly the same to us near-sighted folks). So--after 30 seconds of trying to break the door down screaming, "Damn it, damn it, damn it!" at the top of my lungs--I had to walk half a mile to the main barracks in nothing but my underwear and towel to notify the fronk desk to send the building manager my way. And my feet ain't calloused, either.
12 more days until I get that townhouse...
