I've just picked up a gig colouring some guys comic book.
$US200 per page and he's giving me two - three weeks PER PAGE to do them...
Its a guy named Paul Mccauley and he's from http://www.genesisworks.com
he says he'll pay me the entire $200 per page upfront...
I had a look at their site and it seems they're a christian based design company mostly - web pages, brochures and the like. So I dunno exactly where the comic stuff comes into it. maybe its a sub contract kinda thing??..
here's the sample page he sent me...looks nice to me
I'll simply refuse to start anything until I have the money in physically cleared and in hand. I'm not going to start work and then wait for the money to come through eventually - its good that this is just extra beer money for me and that I'm not relying on it for an income. I can afford to be fussy and cantankerous like that!
I've told him all through the negotiations that my day job as a high school teacher comes first and as priority. If I don't have time to meet a 2 week deadline for a page then stiff luck for him! So far he's fine with that...and if he's not then there's lots of other stuff I can do just for fun!...
and yep - now you're going to get to see just how (bad?..) my sequentials efforts will look. Unfortunately he's getting me to do an NDA so I won't be able to post them here for quite a while - usual story there I guess.
weeeee!!!!
cheers
