If you have a car that has automatic locks and a panic button and you're in a parking lot, walk with your finger on the panic button.Don't make yourself an easy target. Be aware of what's going on- don't text while you're walking, talk on the phone, be rummaging around in your bag, listening to music or acting nervous. Always walk standing as tall as you can, looking around constantly. Look every person you walk by in the face and keep pepper spray hidden in your palms.Always let someone know where you are and what time you are expected home- tell your roommate/boyfriend that you're going to the store and expect to be back in half an hour- call them if you expect to be late, but let them know a good time frame.Also- make sure you lock all the doors to your car the minute you get in it. When you walk with a purse, make sure it's a small purse with a short strap. Walk with it tucked tightly under your arm, and keep one hand holding onto the strap at all times.
