Hello Mr. Allred,i a
Hello Mr. Allred,i am a student in your natrual disasters class (or geo 1700).here is a question that i thought to ask as a suggestion for the next test.the original question that i am thinking of is from the book on page 278.i was thinking about putting questions 22 or 24 which is one of the review questions on that page on the test since we talk a lot about ground water in the different type of soils. my only question would be how can we minimize or adjust to the subsidence and soil volume changes? i think the answer could be on page 275, with the answer being to not build there at all! this is because learning from what is in the book and what you have told the class so far. i have picked up on the fact that if you take the water out it will increase the hazards of a building to subside or sink especially if you add water to what is already there. but the more interesting thing i have learned besides the freeze/thaw effect is that the we as humans are the ones who are causing the problem and adding to natrual causes. anyway this is just a suggestion that i thought of!and just to let you know i love being in your class! thanks!
