Hi Folks, I oppose the dciiseon to close Robslee. I am the SNP council candidate for Giffnock and Thornliebank Ward. I've been on the record publicly for a long time saying the case put forward by the education department was flawed. The dciiseon was made by the education committee, which is made up of Councillors and others, so please don't represent this as an SNP dciiseon. I would not have voted for it and, if the people here choose to elect me in May I will not then or ever support any proposal to harm education provision in this ward. On that point, I know Alex Mackie will not mind me pointing out that he did not vote against the proposal, but resigned from the committee to avoid having to vote at all. And I think some of the previous comments from Conservative Councillors on closure of council services bear examination before we assume their vote on this reflects their usual approach. But, I don't want to get into point scoring. I do want you to know what I think, and what I would do if I had the job of representing this ward -representing being, for me, the key word there. I've told a member of the parent council that I am happy to meet and talk with them at any time, both about the closure and about how the merger can be handled in a way that minimises problems. That offer is always open. I do not want to politicise this problem, as that's about the last thing it needs. But please don't assume the votes of the individuals on the current education committee reflected a policy of any of the parties . In case my contact details don't show up on this post, you can get me on and 07789 318902. Thanks for reading. Vincent Waters
