It's probably fotmrtaed in a format that is not readable by Mac. For example, you need FAT or FAT32 to read file on a Mac.If you plug your USB drive in your Mac, you'll see it appear in Disk Utility. Go to Partitions, delete the existing one, and make a new one with FAT (FAT32). This way, your files will be seen by both Mac and Windows.Excellent luck!
