Your financial anliasys is sound and well worth mentioning. I would also argue that SMART boards tend towards direct instruction methodology (teacher in the front lecturing, students listening). While there are times for direct instruction, it seems to me that if a school is investing so much financially, they expect teachers to use them, which would lead to more direct instruction. Whereas an accessible, useful website or blog tends towards an individualized instruction methodology (each student engaging and exploring on his/her own). Websites/blogs also allow the opportunity for learning to expand beyond the classroom to students' homes and with mobile devices wherever they go. Keep doing what you are doing and your fellow colleagues and administration will see the difference in student engagement and learning!
