Interesting!
Yes, I do let my cats on the desk. In fact, I've taught them not to step on the keyboard. Sometimes they'll walk over it, but not with their feet on it. They'll sort of tiptoe around the edges until they make it across ;) How I taught them to do this? Simple. Touch the top of their little paws when it is on a spot you do not want it to be. Repeat. It seems to trigger some kind of self-preservation response in them, to retreat the paw quickly before it gets 'caught' or something. Eventually, they know and will avoid it in the future.

Sometimes though, Natalie or Samantha will lay down between me and the keyboard (i just go around them since I have my elbows on the edge of the desk anyways, so my elbows are reasonably far apart) and they'll lean their head on the spacebar or other keys. But then I just shove them away ;)
