I have a faster way for doing that in pothoshop. Easily turnable into an action. First the image has to be in colour (either rgb or cmyk). Select the lineart layer (CTRL-A or apple ALT-A) the copy that (CTRL-C) then select Quick Mask (press Q) then PASTE (CTRL-V) then turn off quick mask (Q again) then select-Invert Selection, then press the MASK button on the layer this creates a mask from your selection. Now select the ART for the layer (as you'll be on the MASK for the layer) select all (CTRL-A) then shift delete to fill the entire page with the foreground colour. And, voila, you have a colour hold with a mask on it. I've got the process in my muscle memory now so it's pretty quick even without using an action (though, if you record all of the above as an action it's a very useful tool!)(I may have to blog this and test it/ take screen shots to make it clearer!)
