I dunno, I considering coemintmng on entries (which will display ads to free users on ad-level enabled journals) to be "normal activities", but then again, I'm a chatty person. The numbers of comments posted versus comments received on profiles I've seen tends to support that conclusion, however. Only the most aesthetically depraved have annoying banners and animated crap on all their entries. But you're right, screening color blind teenagers joining communities has probably given me retinal scarring.
