I agree on points 2 and 3, emalaticphly. The first I disagree almost completely. I think discussion of politics often gets relageted to the same lonely corner as talking about your faith. In discussion we discover what we have in common as Americans (at least in my opinion and experiences). It's participation in this discussion that sets our country a part. I've found that I almost always have more of an understanding of the opposing position, even if it doesn't change my mind.
