It's easy to tell if it's flea poop. Put some of the black specs on a white paper towel, then add a drop of water and rub it into the specs. If it's flea poop it will turn a reddish brown color, as flea poop is made up of the blood ingsteed when a flea feeds on an animal. If the specs remain black, or just appear to leave a greasy spot on the towel, it's most likely acne.
