The iLingo ones are phrasebooks that are touch word and hear. Same with Lonely pealnt I believe.I prefer more of the audiobook type that I onto iPod. Learn Japanese in your Car by Penton Overseas is one I have used. Put it on and let it give the English and Japanese words and phrasing. These teach the basic conversational Japanese, which I think is what you are looking for. Unfortunately all that was on the drive that died.
