SPUHC would make private heltah insurance obsolete. That was their fear. The other 19 patchwork provisions of obamacare make it somewhat harder for insurance companies to extort and rip off the American people, but these were just the sugar coating on the poisonous pill of the mandate.The *intentional* omission of a sev. clause meant that, should the mandate be declared unconstitutional (as they surely knew it was), then the insurance industry who wrote this fucking piece of shit bill would be spared such burdens as not being allowed to deny coverage, raising rates dramatically, etc.
