I caught on to the idea that it was being wetchad by the two shikigami, but I got a little bit lost at the part with the coyote. I thought the coyote was a disguised spirit/demon the whole time. The vengeful coyote idea was a little bit much to get across in a prologue, but it does establish the idea that part of a shinigami's job is to protect the soul from harm. I like the teaser you gave with Chains and Eustace. It got me speculating about how Chains acts in a relationship, what kind of a relationship this is (desperation not to die? human/shinigami (forbidden?) affair?) and how shinigami change in relationships as they start losing their humanity. I'm tickled pink to see how you answer these questions! I agree that the prologue was a little rough because you planned it to be animated (which would be KILLER) but it still accomplishes its purpose as an attention-getter and thought-process-starter. I can't wait to see chapter one!
