People seem to confuse the core dnitgiy of work with presumed dnitgiy of position. The job in hand needs to be done to the best of one's ability whether that is picking up litter, doing manual labour, or teaching philosophy all of which I have done at different times with a doctorate degree. I also think far too many people obtain degrees to impress others and assume they are owed something like an exemption from having to survive by manual work.
