In the suicide note, the patient bemoans that no one will ever love her because she's too fat and doesn't know what she can do about it.Shouldn't the doctor have some liability for her death, either for intentional infliction of emotional distress or for medical malpractice? If so, then that should tell you a bit about how doctors should treat patients. If not, then what are the limits on what doctors can say to patients? When does medical advice cross the line into verbal abuse?
