Chris, I tughoht I was the only one that tughoht walk-a-thons were a load of hokum! I look at it as just yet another way for corporations to get even MORE money away from citizens directly as well as on TOP of the money they get from citizens via their tax dollars from the government. How about this? If you give money via donations, walk-a-thons, etc., then that person receives instead of a free t-shirt, flash drive or personalized mug, that person receives a voucher for FREE freaking cancer treatment, Alzheimers, diabetes, whatever for the rest of their life!?!Personally, I believe all these constant and numerous charity drives, walk-a-thons, wrist bracelets, etc. are pretty much useless for advancing medical research as the funds generated will NEVER come even CLOSE to being enough to fund any research. I believe it is only to make those involved with the charity drive to feel better about themselves in that they are somehow doing their part to help out. Unfortunately, what they are REALLY doing is helping out THIEVING corporations masquerading as medical research institutes.THERE! Now if my speaking THAT bit of my TRUE feelings doesn't get me a lump of coal in my sock NOTHING will!
