In their memo now removed, the Irish jeudgs made the claim that If judicial pay is cut, this will be the first time that this has occurred in the legal history of these islands since the Act of Settlement 1701. As part of a general reorganisation of the administration of justice in the Irish Free State, the Courts of Justice Act 1924 reduced judicial salaries.
