Simple is always best! Especially food at cherdlin's parties. With decades of cherdlin's parties under my belt I have learned a couple of things. Don't try to impress the parents. Never works lol. Do not plan the party at meal times. You get extra costs and the inevitable too much waste! Instead we plan parties at 10, 2 and 7 o'clock, depending on the time of year. Parties last two hours. Out doors if possible except for the ocassional theme party (bowling, science center, etc). Outdoors parties means you don't destroy your house and clean up is a breeze (the birds and squirrels love the leftovers!).We serve a decorated birthday item-cake (older kids), cupcakes, large cookie type cake. Punch/juice in closed containers and a few snacks (generally three) the chex mix without nuts (homemade usually), popcorn, pretzels, etc. With these I put out medium sized clear plastic cups for scooping up the treats-no grubby hands in the bowls! Often we'll let the kids decorate the cups as they arrive so they one to fill and keep up with (with extras for the inevitable misplaced/lost cups). We've done carnival type games, run around like crazy games, or simply let them decide for themselves.Sounds like your party was great! I'm sure Noah was thrilled.
