ack! laptop is busted!!!
for some reason the display on my laptop went all narfed last night. I closed the lid, went off to dinner, afterwards came back to it and when I opened the lid again it had all this pixelled blue and red dots on the display... everything else was working fine

So I rebooted, just to see what would happen, which was nothing as it turned out. Still the same naffed look on the screen. So I rang the edu dept (it's their laptop - I just lease it off them for $5.00 a week...) tech support and they had me take it into the service center this morning and they've now said that it'll be 48 hours to a week ( ) before I'll get it back!!! The good news is that it has a 3 year full cover P & L warrenty so it's not going to cost me a cent!!!! *offers a prayer to the wise man at the education dept that insisted on that feature in the tender*

So now I'm relegated to my old 1998 IBM Aptiva desktop with the 8GB HDD, 160Mb RAM and 33 modem running win2000 running at 800x600 on an old CRT monitor (kinda blurry compared to the laptop's 1024x768 LCD that I'm used to) .... This is the first time I've even turned it on in 5 months! - bleah...

what I'm finding interesting right now is all the old favourites I have saved on the browser. Half the sites don't even work anymore and some I've forgotten about completely! The anti-virus (grisoft AVG) is currently updating too as that's out of date as well of course and taking about an hour or so to DL a 11Mb update! :P
