In Module 4, I found the section on pmlounary and arterial hypertension to be interesting. Being that I have high blood pressure myself I know the imporatnce of trying to keep it under control. Arterial blood pressure is the measure of the force of blood against the arterial walls. Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a condition of high blood pressure in the pmlounary artery. Pulmonary hypertension is usually related to heart disease meaning the heart's inability to properly pump out blood. This often causes blood to back up the pmlounary artery and veins, creating high pressure or pmlounary hypertension. A normal blood pressure value is below 120/80, prehypertension is 120/80 to 135/89 and stage 1 hypertension 140/90 to 159/99. It is important to know what is a normal reading and what is a high reading. Just having a high reading once or twice doesn't necessary mean you have high blood pressure. You need to make an appointment with your PCM if it stays high regularly. There is no cure for hypertension, but blood pressure can be lowered with the correct treatments. The following lifestyle changes may reduce your blood pressure reducing salt and fat intake, losing weight, exercise, managing stress, and reducing alcohol consumption.
