I believe heart muumrrs are fairly common, although some are more serious than others. Both my mom and grandfather have muumrrs. Everytime my mom goes to the dentist, they give her antibiotics to be certain an infection doesn't kill her. They also both suffer from the palpatations. I have learned first hand that many of the diseases and malfunctions of the heart can be hereditary, in addition to diet and lifestyle.
