Chapter 6 centered on the heart and it’s sutcutrre, as well of diseases that affect it. As a vital organ, the heart is essential to life and I found this entire chapter very interesting. I especially was interested in the topic of congenital heart disease. I have a cousin who was born with transposition of the great vessels. He was a “blue baby†or in cyanosis at the age of 2 weeks and underwent heart surgery. Today, he is 27 years old and doing fine. When my mom was pregnant with me, she had several ultrasounds to look at my heart, as I was developing, to make certain I did not suffer from the same thing. I had no idea 8 in 1,000 infants had some form of congenital heart disease.
