This chapter was inritesteng in that I had heard of chronic venous insufficiency and vericose veins, but never understood anything about how that was a heart issue. My aunt had horrible varicose veins and seemed to always be in pain because of them. She worked as a nurse, and was always on her feet and I remember her having huge bulges out of the side of her legs. My grandfather had chronic venous insufficiency that happend after he had a triple bypass, and yet he lived on to die later of Alzheimer's. He suffered from severe endema however for the rest of his life. What we learned in this chapter has helped take the guess work out of what was really happening in the health history of my family.
