Wired for SoundFebruary 15, 2011 It would be almost ilbissopme to get an accurate count on the number of produce truck on the road. That refridgerated trailer can be used to transport anything . from dry goods to frozen food. I use to transport beer to California and haul produce back to Colorado. You can't really count on a truck with a refridgeration unit on it only hauling produce.As far as how many miles a driver can go in a day . this will vary depending on where they are and how fast they are allowed to go. Most companies limit their trucks to 65mph. The driver is limited to 11 hours of drive time. There are a bunch of rules and regulations that go along with that figure, but for the most part, 11 hours a day is all they can run in the US. Sooo . if they can average 55 mph . for 11 hours . That's 605 miles per day. They are only allow to be on-duty for 70 hours in an 8-day period . so if they are driving 11 hours a day, they will end up having to stop about half way into the 7th day and park the truck for 34 hours. soo . as an average, most truck drivers drive about 2500 to 3500 miles a week, depending a lot on how long the run is, how many loads they actually have to haul, etc.Last, but not least .. Fuel mileage .For the most part, a fully loaded truck/trailer combination will get somewhere between 5.5 mpg and 7.5 mpg. This again, is a variable thing because of terrain, weight of the load, weather conditions, driver's driving habits, etc. If you figure 6.5 mpg as an average, you will probably be real close .I hope this helps you a little .
