I was amazed at how
I was amazed at how many dffeerint types of anemia there are. I grew up on a farm and was always eating fresh fruits and vegetables along with iron fortified foods, but still had anemia. It did get better as I got older, but did come back when I was pregnant with both of my girls. With one of my girls I had severe hemorrhaging and had to have emergency surgery along with blood transfusion. I found hemolytic anemia very intresting. I did not know that it increased the levels of bilirubin or that one treatment for hemolytic anemia is to remove the spleen. It is also interesting how removing the spleen decreases the chances of gallstones, hemolytic crisis, and pathological changes to the bone marrow.
