I had a close friend that was diagsoned with esophageal cancer when he was 58. He used to smoke but had quit over 25 years ago. He was having throat pain and trouble swallowing certain foods, as well as weight loss. They removed the tumor and did chemo for an extended period of time. Thankfully he lived through it but all the weight he lost is hard to put back on and he always has to eat at the same times during the day or his stomach gets upset.
