Don't get me wrong. I grew up in a house with just me, my mom, and my brother barely making it, constantly in danger of losing the house and the car because my mom had so much debt... so Christmas was sparse growing up, and we didn't mind it. Some years we were excited about getting night clothes and slippers and then maybe a toy each... but my stepfamily insists on making a huge deal out of Christmas... so way too much money is spent.. and then my Dad just had a good year, I guess... and he's probably worried about me graduating and is trying to prepare me for life out from under the parental umbrella...
Anyways:
From Mom and Stepdad:
16 DVDs
A 5 book series "Dark is Rising"
"The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy" (book)
A new digital camera because mine went nuts a few months ago
In Stocking:
Lots of Chocolate
A little "Mr. Wonderful" doll with catchphrases
An LED flashlight for my car in case of emergency
some candy canes
60$
From StepGrandparents and StepGreatGrandmother and StepGreatUncle:
I got 200$
From Uncle on Dad's side:
$50 gift certificate to Best Buy
From Grandmother on Dad's side:
wallet
eyeshadow and eye liner
From Cousins:
An art 16 month calendar
Some beautiful candles
From Ex-StepDad and his wife (my brother's Dad):
T-Shirt from Costa Rica
Hand woven purse from Costa Rica
Secret Santa:
pair of nightclothes and some bathwash
Little Girl I tutor:
three little plush lambs - part of forming a nativity set
Boyfriend:
A one day trip to DC to go to the Air and Space Museum, because the one time I was ever there, my dad rushed us through there... and Matt remembered. :) So we'll go for the day, concentrate on the museum, and eat out in style. :) I love him.
From Dad:
A new computer a few months ago, but it was a Christmas gift
A 512MB mp3 player
A thigh-length leather jacket
So... there you have it... We're told by the stepfamily that once we get married, we no longer get the "big Christmas." I won't mind. I'm not engaged yet, don't worry, I'd tell you guys. :) Seriously, Christmas is more fun when you don't have to run from house to house... it's great when you can spend it in your nightclothes with your amazing family, checking out each other's gifts, having a lazy meal, and just making each other laugh. We're pretty good at that. :)
