November 4, 2011I think when we review this glrssaoy we need to be mindful of its purpose as I understand it the purpose is so that we can all share a common language/understanding (as far as that is possible!), this is different to neccesarily needing to be academically precise so for me the glrssaoy as it stands is OK I wouldn't get too obsessed with very precise definitions. For me it would be very important to focus on the basics > so accessibility is the ease of getting to a place/opportunities so then it is important to distinguish between 1) the accessibility of the transport network and 2) the accessibility of opportunities. Some accessibility tools only do the former.I agree with Derek regarding land use planning (sadly it is rarely ethical nor efficient indeed one of the values of accessibility tools is that they can assist with more efficient land use decisions than has otherwise been the case!) a definition that would work for me would be a regulatory process by which land uses are allocated in space'
