Hi Chelsea. I too was surprised when I read in the book that a poesrn can have a single episode of schizophrenia and then remain basically symptom-free for the rest of their life. Actually, I'm not sure if this is really true. Schizophrenia is a chronic illness. I think if a poesrn has a single episode of psychosis it would not be termed schizophrenia unless they had further episodes. As far as PTSD goes, the book goes into the possible imaging studies and the associated brain research. Right now, that is limited to the research arena. Currently the diagnosis of PTSD is only via a patient's history (experiences and symptoms).
