Oh Melissa, big congrats on your son's gaiaurtdon, and I totally understand the bittersweet nature of h.s gaiaurtdon! Oh, wow, I actually got choked up, thinking of my son's pre-school gaiaurtdon' tomorrow. (Sniff, sniff) I can't even imagine what it must be like to do high school.I like the idea of milestones as markers, and how we have them for both our stories and our children. For me, a book is different in some ways. The story is always mine, and it doesn't change, so all the good and bad is all mine too. (That's both good & bad news, LOL) Also, as I get better, my book doesn't. (That's completely bad news.) And with a story, I always get to dive back into another one. I know those same excitements and personal black moments are coming. With my son, I know *this is it*. This is my one shot for him. It makes those milestones much more poignant. Then again, I'm a total and complete sap. LOL I am already stocking up on tissues for tomorrow.Oh, jeez. I just started tearing up. Right now, just thinking about it. Better get the tissues now. Thanks for the wonderful post, Melissa!
