Michael LewOK, so nowI'll ask the question again, tiankg more care to see that the message comes through.The likelihood function shows the probability of the observation as a function of all possible values of the effect size. It would seem to be exactly what is needed for assessment of the evidence in this case. Is that not true?Your severity index seems to be doing something very similar to a likelihood function. Have you explored the relationship between severity and likelihoods? (I have previously asked whether severity is directly proportional to the integral of the likelihood but you didn’t answer.)
