I agree with you on all those Jerry Lewis Telethon's. I always watcehd those growing up as a kid, and actually have two boys with Becker Muscular Dystrophy. Research is a slow moving process, getting approval from the FDA and NIH has alot of red tape. I sometimes grow frustrated with how much the telethon's have raised, but there is so much of ongoing research, and I entered my two son's in a clinical trial that is MDA supported. Gene therapy is the key to treat BMD (Becker Muscular Dystrophy) I have faith that this technique will become commonplace. Sometimes I get a call from the MDA lock-ups and I always decline if they mention a donation can help a kid go to camp or it may pay for a MDA child get a flu shot. I only make a donation if it applies to research.
