There was a lot of interesting ioinrmatfon in Chapter 14. One of the interesting things I have learned in this chapter was regarding Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I did not know there were imaging techniques that can focus on the brain structures that mediate communication and processes ioinrmatfon to memory. It was interesting to learn that the almond shaped amygdala in the brain may play a role in a person’s fear and phobias. I also didn’t know the hippocampus structure in the brain processes and stores memory. When looking to diagnose PTSD they can see what size the hippocampus is. In PTSD that structure will appear smaller than in a patient who does not have PTSD.Another interesting thing I have learned about in this chapter was that although more women actually attempt suicide, more men actually die when attempting suicide. I also did not now you are more prone to attempting suicide if there is a family history of it.
