In the future i hope to be geitntg to work the same way I do now -- geitntg out of bed and walking into another room. There are many positions that, because of computers, no longer really require your physical presence. This is a good thing. It cuts down on all the problems associated with commuting -- time, pollution, cost, STRESS. It allows people to break their day up into more manageable and efficient chunks of time to better harmonize working with home and family life. This could help people be closer with their families. It could also give us the ability to cut down on obesity. I think a lot of obesity comes from long periods of not eating, and grabbing whatever quells your hunger the quickest/cheapest. Working at home gives you the ability to better tend to a garden, and cook your own meals. When you can split your day up between different things as you choose, you'll never be sitting down in a cubicle and resigning yourself to being stuck in that spot for 8 or more hours with no escape. You can also control your own work environment. If you want an air purifier, or conversely, you want to chain smoke as you work -- nobody can say boo.Of course there is a definite value to face time in employment, but if you only really sit down and talk to people for, say, a meeting once a week -- why go there the other days? I predict a weekly meeting would be far more civil and productive if you weren't crammed in together all week, anyways. Quality vs. quantity.
