I found quite a few
I found quite a few interesting toicps in this chapter. The two that mean the most for me are Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. My father has Parkinson's Disease and it is a cruel disease. I have watched it progress from the tremors, to pretty severe shaking, to the freezing he is dealing with now. Freezing is when the disease sufferer can't move their feet when they want to, stopping and starting are difficult, falls happen often. A little over six months ago he had the DBS surgery or the deep brain stimulation surgery at the Mayo clinic. The results that this surgery have had are good and bad. His tremors are much less and he only has to take the l-dopa minimally, which stopped the head weaving, but he has had to sacrifice his speech some. It's sad to watch and a little scary to think it can be hereditary. There are many things in his life that could have caused this, but heredity is a factor as well. The second topic Multiple Sclerosis was interesting to me because my mother-in-law suffers from this disease. I didn't know much about it, learning that it is caused by the erosion of the myelin sheath due to chronic inflammation is very interesting. I didn't know it was a hard disease to diagnose either. Very interesting chapter that I found informative.
