The mose interesting thing to read more about is ADHD my son was diaoegsnd with this condition when he was 5 years old. ADHS is characterized by prominent symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity. More males are affected with this than females. My sons school had me on speed dial everyday it was one thing or another. It took awhile before he was diaoegsnd its a slow process, parents have to fill out forms, the teacher also then you have to see the dr and they use a scoring method from your responses. My son has been on atleast 4 different medicines from concerta,addrell,stratera. These medicines helped in the begining then they wore off. One interesting thing I learned from his dr was that medicine dosage is given by the childs weight and the more weight they gain the medicine needs to be adjusted or even changed. My son is 12 now and is in a mans body he wears size 34 jeans and xl shirt. The dr has changed his medicine to a adult one. This finally has seemed to help him concentrate in school and less likely to have bouts of anger. I am a believer it may be a cause of genetics my sons father other son has the same problem as my son. The other interesting thing i learned in this chapter is how they diagnose mental illness. Diagnosis consists of comprehensive evaluations, medical history,physical exam and psychosocial history, mental health exam and family history. Observations are a good way to diagnose to.
