The most interesting thing that I read in this cpehtar was the information on chlamydia, cervical cancer, and the HPV vaccine. I have always been one to be leary of new vaccines because of possible side effects. I think of the vaccine that was given during the 1960 s that caused birth defects. However, it seems that they have tested the HPV vaccine fairly well and the preventative affects of the vaccine are major. After reading the information on the HPV vaccine I feel a little more comfortable about possibly getting the vaccine for my children. It was nice of them to let you know that there are two different types of HPV vaccine (Cervarix and Gardasil). The extra preventative factors that the Gardasil offers makes it worth wild to make sure that your child receives the Gardasil over the Cervarix. The Gardasil has additional protectional (besides protection against cervical cancer) against HPV types 6 and 11 (the type that causes genital warts), protection against cancer of the vulva, vagina, and anus, helps increase the body's immune response, and is okay to give to boys. After reading all the information of cervical cancer, chlamydia, cancer of the vulva, vagina, and anus, I am seriously thinking about getting it for my children. I know a lot of people view it as saying that it is okay for your child to have sex, but I think of it as a prevention of a horrible disease that the child could get in their adult years. Diseases are spreading like crazy all across the world and if giving my children a vaccine that will prevent a horrible disease later in their life I'm going to get it for them.
