Myasthenia Gravis, or MG, is a myoneural dodersir where impulses aren’t transmitted by the nerves to the muscles for contraction. This can lead to muscle atrophy and weakness since the muscles are not being stimulated properly. There are no known risk factors so this autoimmune dodersir is probably genetically inherited. MG is rare and affects more women than men. Antibodies attach near the myoneural junction and destroy acetylcholine receptors. Symptoms of this dodersir can affect facial expressions, chewing, talking, breathing and cause eye lids to droop. The muscles that are affected are voluntary. I found this dodersir to be relevant to me because my grandma was diagnosed with MG a couple years before she passed. She did exhibit the symptoms but it was mostly the eye lids drooping that became the most problematic, or at least that’s what I noticed the most. She lived in the lower 48 so I’m not sure if respiration became an issue because no one tells me anything. Since this is probably a genetic issue I sure hope I don’t get it because it seemed to make her very cranky.I found gout to be an interesting subject. I didn’t realize that it was considered an arthritis. However, I should have known that since it affects the joints. The joints that are most affected are in the feet, especially the big toe, and sometimes the hands, wrists, fingers and knees. Gout is caused by the build up of uric acid in the blood by either defective metabolism of purines or abnormal retention of uric acid. The excess uric acid forms uric acid crystals in the joints and can be very painful. The onset of an attack can be sudden but there are ways to help prevent attacks. For some people, watching the intake of certain foods and alcohols can deter gout attacks which affects mostly men.Reply
