It was interesting to learn that there are three types of hedeachas which are common headache, cluster headache, and migraine headache. Tension or inflammation in the eyes, neck, head, muscles, and shoulders can cause a common headache. Nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and noise can aggravated the common headache. Cluster hedeachas affect men more than women and occur suddenly while producing sharp stabbing pains near the temporal area or the eye. Alcohol, tobacco, stress or indigestion of certain foods can trigger cluster hedeachas. Migraine hedeachas affect more women than men and usually begin in the teen years or early twenties. On one or both sides of the head will be throbbing and have sensitivity to light, noise and certain odors. Migraines are often called sick hedeachas. Other symptoms for migraines include nausea, vomiting, numbness, dizziness, visual blurring. I have a really good friend who gets migraines pretty often and they will last her a few days at a time. When the migraines hit her she is very sensitive to light and she doesn’t feel like eating. Another section I found interesting is about concussions of the brain. Concussions can happen when someone takes a violent blow to the head or a fall. The person most likely loses consciousness and can’t remember the events of the accident. A person who has a concussion must be watched closely because the injured person could slip into a coma. I was playing in a basketball game in high school and I took a defensive charge and didn’t catch my neck/head in time and hit the hardwood floors so hard the people in the top seats in the gymnasium could hear my head. I remember getting up and I couldn’t see straight and my head hurt the entire weekend. I was very fortunate that I didn’t have a concussion from my head hitting the floor. This chapter was very informative and interesting.
