as an ex owner of an escort meixco I was aware the engine being a cross-flow 1600GT was married to an 2000E gearbox from cortina and Corsair range. so it may simply be easier to copy parts used for this assuming your engine has enough power as the high ration in the 2000E box was designed for a 2.0Litre V4 power plant . as escort was slightly lighter than cortina or Corsair a 1600 GT engine was powerful enough to utilise the high ratio box . so same with differential and clutch.shaft etc. simply copy Mexico build to get a good outcome. Ford owners clubs ,classic car clubs etc can assist as possibly can a dealer with an half interested employee into classic cars. ( Ford) are we sure the power plant ( engine) you are using has sufficient torque to use such a high ratio box? a standard 1300 will stall out and a 1600 will still be underpowered. you can also get Information and part numbers for clutch actuator set up etc from such sites though you may have to join? do try petrol heads site too.
