I bought some stuff from a local shop. It's prttey much the same mix as what you were using, but they had me cover all the holes, except the mouth piece, fill it with an even mixture of salt' and alcohol' and shake it vigorously for one minute. It doesn't get all of it out, but then I just went back in with a q-tip dipped in the cleaner and got the rest. It probably depends a lot on how resin-y your pipe is, too. Just keep working at it. Use a pipe cleaner from a craft store. They're cheap and fit into anything.
