The American Cancer
The American Cancer Society's 2008 statistics (taken from the tbetxook) comparing women and men's cancers indicates the importance of women getting screened for cancer. I did a chart to compare the four women's cancers to two men's cancers mentioned. I suppose since women have more complex systems, they have more cancers. The death rates are so much higher for women that we would be fools not to go get our examinations. Death Diagnosed Fatal RateCervical United States11,070 3,870 35%Cancer Worldwide 550,000 300,00055%The death rate declined in America by 74% due to increased use of Pap test.Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine should reduce it too.Endometrial United States40,100 7,470 19%Cancer Worldwide200,000 50,000 25% Breast CancerNorth America1.3 million 465,00 36% World's highest rateOvarian United States 21,650 15,520 72%Cancer Worldwide 230,000 140,00061% More difficult to diagnose Testicular United States 8,090 380 5%Cancer Worldwide 50,000 9,000 18% ProstrateCancer Worldwide 780,000 250,000 32% About two out of three prostrate cancers are in men over age 65.I personally think cancer is the scariest thing to me. I just associate it with pain and discomfort ending with death. No thanks, I'll avoid this any way I can.
