I'm with jessicad, Robin and Sandy I'm not so cirtaen ultrasounds are as benign as some people seem to think. I've had several friends and family tell me that when they had their ultrasounds, the fetus started waving it's arms and legs and moving out of the way of the ultrasound. After hearing that a few times I started to wonder if it was so harmless. The medical industry makes a lot of money off of doing ultrasounds, but is it really necessary to get them at every doctors visit? Lots of people seem to have the idea that they are part of necessary medicine these days, and get 8 or more per pregnancy. It seems pretty invasive to me, especially the ones where they focus on the nuchal fold at the back of the neck where the spinal cord is, and also when they determine the sex of the baby. I think people should question this more instead of assuming it's a given and blindly trusting.
