Thank you:)I too lov
Thank you:)I too love Fern Gully and feel the screams in the city. Here's a poem I wrote about a tree in my back yard (one of the few woeodd areas for miles).Sway to the BeatBy: AmelieHave you ever held onto a tree on a windy day?Felt the whole thing sway to the melodyof nature's plans?Did you hear and feel the twanging joyas the trunk shifted into a comfortableback and forth motion?did you feel your soul reach out its own stabilityas if the deep rooted trunk in your arms needed your helpdid you feel the swaying change a bit, as if in a chuckleat your attempt to help that was unneeded, but still appreciated.Did you close your eyes for an instant and see your grandmother'scracked and ancient skin in the trunk your hands gripped, calmly.Did you see her smile as last autumn's leaves brushed your anklesin their early spring pirouettes?Have you ever held onto a tree on a windy dayand felt the tree hold you backbeen transfixed by the joy and horror you feltin that trunk older than you, older than the hometoo close to the branches it stretched out.Did you look up?did you see the tree's branches reaching outwardto brush the arms and fingers of other treesbudding into spring's new life just ashumans have the flush return to cheeksafter a long winter of hibernation and hot cocoa?Did you notice the squirrel walk up next to youmere feet awaylook to youto your handsand then, to your soul.did you see that it too understoodperhaps more than you ever couldthe swaying dance of that treethe twanging song it played for itselfthe branches, the fingers, the joythe toes dug deep into cool soilHave you ever held onto a tree on a windy day?Feeling your heart keep rhythm with its swaydreaming dreams of the roots dug in deephearing a whisper you had before only heard in sleep
