I have no idea how easily you'd be able to get hold of it (there must be lots of clips on Youtube), but you should try to track down a series called The Day Today. It was produced in 1994 and is a vicious parody of the news. A huge amount of the specific references will be lost on your, no doubt (to be fair, they are on me - I was 9 when it was made and didn't exactly follow politics) but you'll still appreciate the style they're parodying. There are only 6 episodes, so it's not a huge commitment.
