A free iPad....
Yup, in about 3 weeks or so, Lesmurdie SHS teachers are all getting a free iPad 3 to use as we see fit from the school. This, in addition to the laptop that I get from the education dept, but in the case of the iPad, I don't have to pay a weekly lease fee... because that's what 'free' means doesn't it!!..?
We also get a cover and an annual App download allowance.
Why is this?...?
Well it would seem that our new Principal went to a big Principals of Australia conference in Sydney a few weeks ago. There wwre about 600 school boss' there and when the presentations started they said they could all be downloaded via bluetooth to your iPad if you had one, and about half the principal's promptly took one out and did so... and our boss was left there twiddling his thumbs looking inadequate and poor... :+P
Subsequent discussions with principals showed to him that quite a few schools, and a lot of them the more 'elite' in Australia provided iPads to their staff. When he came home he did a bit of investtigating, found that Apple do a big discount deal for schools, and also found that the school could apply for some grant money for this sort of thing via Apple and a few other sponsor companies and ta-dahhhh! before you know it, we're all getting a free iPad!!!!
It's only mine so long as I stay at Lesmurdie SHS, and I have to give it back if/when I leave the school, but since I'm now permanent and substantive, plus the edu dept has just changed the transfer process making it almost nigh on impossible to move schools at all IMO, that isn't going to happen soon *touch wood*
But who cares... I'm gettin' a free iPad!..!
Now if only I had the slightest clue as to how to use the dang thing... I'm not exactly the biggest Apple fan and don't even have a touch screen cell phone... much less anything else like that.
I colour stuff...
