They've been amazingly successful here, but because it's our own country it's hard to tell how objective we're being. (Although never let it be said that we won't criticise ourselves. Endlessly.) So it's really good to hear from another country that it was well received.
We went down to London the first two weekends, saw Rowing the first and Women's Football the second, and we were so, so impressed by the organisation. The army of volunteers (and indeed the army) were ever-present, ever-smiling and ever-helpful. There were pink signs everywhere pointing to venues, labels on every tube map to show which stations served which venues, help points at all the major stations, volunteers to make sure you were getting on the right trains etc. Absolutely phenomenal example of what we can do when we put our minds to it and have the will to succeed.
And the sport was pretty good to watch too.
(You knocked our women's hockey team out *sob* Three of the players were from our area, so I really wanted them to do well. Plus they've been painting a post box gold in the home town of each of our gold medallists. I would like to know what they'd have done if we won any team sports!)
